This past weekend, the Lodi High Band took a trip to Santa Cruz to compete in their last competition of the year, Music in the Parks. Band competes annually against other bands from all over California. The band met at 6AM at Lodi High, and left for the beach. Mrs. Dempsey, who teaches Band, and Mrs. Kellar, who teaches Choir,  planned and organized the trip in order to get the band and choir to the competition.

When they arrived, they cheered the choir on before their time was up. “It was really fun.  We got to see the choir before we went on.” says Jocelyn Kessler. They put their costumes on and played two songs. The band performed songs Arabian Dances and Loch Lomond. They ended with placing second overall. The group went to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk after competing to celebrate. “We all played football on the beach and had a lot of fun.” says Matthew Weldon, a band member.
